    Avec un scénario de série B convenu, le film arrive à briller par son traitement intime sincère du sujet sans pour autant manquer de profondeur en menant une véritable étude ontologique de l'être humain pathologique. Autrement dit il questionne l'être, l'individu et sa latente désarticulation au contact d'une maladie disruptive (je pourrais partager mon analyse plus en détail si certains se manifestent). Là où le film trouve ses limites, c'est dans sa mise en scène assez rudimentaire, pour ne pas dire taciturne. Vous l'aurez compris, ce n'est pas à travers l'esthétique de Cured que vous trouverez votre bonheur. Par contre, il peut potentiellement vous séduire par son écriture de qualité.

    This movie really could have been great. I love zombie movies of all kinds but this one was such a slow moving film i couldnt bring myself to love it

    David Freyne and Tilted Films should take a bow. This is a very accomplished work in which Ireland is recovering from a devastating virus that has turned its victims into cannibalistic monsters. Some have been cured but most of these are now treated as outcasts, with tragic consequences. Freyne has created a genuinely chilling and believable atmosphere of intolerance and unease, and demonstrates a sure hand in terms of pacing and technique. Of course it's not perfect. Some of the subplots lack development - a particularly good one involving Tom Vaughan-Lawlor's character and his father is totally abandoned - and it's a shame to see excellent actors like Janice Byrne and Barry McGovern in minor supporting roles when they could have been better used. Freyne has some great ideas and epic themes in his screenplay and these can't be properly accommodated within a mere 91 minutes (is it possible this was a much longer film that sadly had to be cut?) But the acting is very strong (Ellen Page, as extremely beautiful and charismatic as ever, gives one of her best performances, and young Oscar Nolan is terrific as her son), the story - although a little muddled in places - is overall very gripping, and there are some well-handled action and crowd scenes in the last half-hour. Perhaps viewers expecting a standard "zombie" movie (the word zombie is never mentioned) may be disappointed - this is a serious and intelligent drama, and one of the freshest, most interesting Irish films in years.

    I know a lot of people complain that this movie is "slow and boring." It's certainly not an action-packed zombiefest. The storyline focuses more on character development and drama. Is it slow? Perhaps, but it's far from boring. The script is great and original, the acting is superb, I found the whole movie tense and compelling... but I'm taking away a full star rating because of the incessant shaky cam. It's highly annoying! The camera shakes even when characters are just casually talking to one another or walking down the street. If it wasn't for the shaky cam shots RUINING the visuals, I'd say this was a 5 star film.
